FGM “Breaking the Silence”

Tallo Information Centre is working in partnership with Acton Community Forum and Southall Community Alliance a three year long FGM project called ‘Breaking the Silence’.

Breaking the Silence is an Ealing based project that tackles Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). This practice is prevalent all around the world for various reasons such as tradition, religion and myth and project aims to raise awareness and support communities who have been affected by FGM.

The FGM-Breaking the silence is lead by Southall Community Alliance and all the partner organisation’s primary area of concern are the eradication of FGM.

To fulfill our mission: Our Aims & Activities include:

  • Arranging training and awareness raising sessions
  • Providing information on where to access services
  • Training local peer advocates to work with affected communities
  • Providing support for women and girls who are affected and at risk of FGM
  • Delivering outreach sessions for women to change attitudes and behaviour on FGM
